The widest range of back cladding flashings

Redway is the producer of one of the widest ranges of back cladding flashings in Aotearoa New Zealand. Its acquisition by local building products company Masons, brings together an even wider range of solutions for moisture management in residential and commercial buildings.

Director Trent Mason, says, "This purchase is all about providing the best products for building envelopes – especially the layer between the framing and the cladding. Specifiers will be able to call up a complete set of roof and wall underlays, flashing tapes and a back flashing systems from one supplier, with one warranty."

A deal between long-time associates

Masons’ purchase of Redway Extrusions cements a 15-year friendship between Trent Mason and Redway founder Tom Reddington. Tom’s considered a guru on water tightness in buildings and when he started thinking about retirement, Trent stepped in to continue his legacy.

Trent says, "We’re delighted that Tom will be staying on to share 25 years of experience and oversee the integration. The Redway E2 flashing range is a great fit with our business and brings wider value to our customers."

20 years in-service performance in New Zealand, and recently in Australia

Redway has been working with architects and builders to control moisture for 20 years. Its E2 range complies with the requirements of the NZBC E2/AS1, and the Australian building code. Cavity closers and weather board starts are among its most popular products.

The uPVC back flashings are designed for use in a variety of wall construction details to meet the flashing requirements of both direct-fixed and cavity cladding systems.

Trent Mason says Tom Reddington will also consult on new and improved flashing design. ‘Masons’ marketing and distribution channels will further build on Tom’s good work,’ says Trent. ‘Masons specialise in exterior wraps and tapes, and so flashings are an ideal extension to the Masons range. Some Redway customers are also Masons customers, so for many builders, ordering product will be even simpler.’
